Departmental Activities

A One-Day Workshop on Manuscriptology was organized by the Dept. of Sanskrit on 27.06.2023 under the aegis of IQAC. In this workshop, Sri Somenath Chattopadhyay, Coordinator MCC-MRC, delivered a valuable speech on the conservation of palm-leaf and handmade paper manuscripts and demonstrated a hands-on-training on this matter. About 80 students from the department of Bengali and History along with the students of Sanskrit have participated in this workshop.

On 14th of November 2024, we have arranged a Seminar on Sanskrit literature as a part of our Annual Cultural Programme. Dr. Kaliprasad Mishra, Associate Professor, Polba Mahavidyalaya has delivered a valuable speech on modern trends in Sanskrit Literature and its impect on contemporary society, before the students and teacher of our college. About 60 students and 15 teachers have participated in this programme

A vivid cultural program comprising Drama, Chanting, Recitation, Dance etc. has been organized by the Department of Sanskrit to celebrate the Teachers’ Day every year. All the Students and the Teachers of the department take part in this program. It has been a custom of the department to invite the Pass-out students of the session in this occasion to convey a ceremonial farewell to them.

The Department of Sanskrit organises Educational Tour every year for the students. During last few years we have visited historical places like Bishnupur, Shantiniketan, Dargah of Jafar Khan Gazi etc. All the teachers and students used to take part in these educational excursions.

The Department of Sanskrit publishes a Wall Magazine named “Sammanan” every year on the occasion of Teachers’ Day Celebration. Different topics of educational interest are depicted in this Wall Magazine by the students of the department in hand written scripts and paintings. During last few years various topics like ‘Contribution of Bengal in Sanskrit Literature’, ‘Conservation of Nature as reflected in Sanskrit Literature’; ‘Contribution of foreign scholars in modern Sanskrit linguistics’, ‘Cultivation of Science through Sanskrit Language’ etc. were published in the magazine.

The Department of Sanskrit also publishes an Academic Journal named “ARANI” every year where different research articles written by the teachers of the department as well as by the students get published. This year we have published the Eleventh issue of the Journal on the day of Annual Cultural Programme.
